At baby mama pelvic floor physical therapy+pilates, you are working with doctors of physical therapy with extensive postgraduate training in pelvic floor conditions and women's health. Pelvic floor is not a secondary concern that we treat... it is the PRIMARY focus. Physical therapists receive minimal training in pelvic floor during physical therapy school. Training in this niche happens after graduating and it is vital to find a physical therapist with postgraduate training including training in internal pelvic floor assessment.
Our physical therapists are licensed in the state of Arizona to practice physical therapy with doctorates of physical therapy and advanced training in pelvic floor therapy. They have also completed extensive clinical training and continuing education to stay up-to-date with the latest techniques and treatments.
At baby mama pelvic floor physical therapy+pilates, you work one on one with a licensed physical therapist for the ENTIRE session. A typical session will include some chatting about you at the beginning, hands on treatment, exercise instruction, and a home exercise program. At no time are you handed off to an aide or assistant. You receive care in a spacious enclosed room NOT in an open gym around other clients. Pelvic floor concerns are private and should be treated in a private space.
Initial evaluations for 60 minutes long and follow up sessions are 50 minutes.
You will complete a questionnaire prior to your session which will be reviewed by one of our physical therapists. Upon arrival, you will be greeted at the front lobby of the Womb & Wellness Collective (a shared space of like minded health care providers specializing in women's health). You will get a chance to share your story, your concerns, and your goals. We will. do a head-to-toe assessment looking at posture, breathing, range of motion, strength, and flexibility of different parts of your body. If appropriate and, most importantly, if you give permission... we will do an internal pelvic floor exam.
Nope. Never. Totally Up To You!!! An internal pelvic floor assessment can be extremely valuable to a comprehensive assessment but never at the cost of your comfort level. Some clients are comfortable the first session, some later, some never. Totally fine in our books. A pelvic floor physical therapist should be able to assess you based on your comfort level and never force anything on you. If you decide this is the right step for you, you will undress from the waist down under a sheet. There are no metal tools involved and your physical therapist will walk you through each step.
We provide all clients with super bills that can be used to submit to your insurance. Why we accept insurance directly??? Because then we get to work directly with YOU to make YOUR plan of care instead of letting an insurance agent dedicate it for us. You work one on one with a doctor of physical therapy with advanced pelvic floor training for the ENTIRE session. You are never handed off to an aide or assistant. That means- BETTER CARE. BETTER RESULTS. and... LESS SESSIONS!!!
